The Secret Trick to Applying Magnetic Lashes with Ease

Magnetic lashes are super popular right now, but a lot of people find them tricky to put on. Well, I've got a little tip that might just make them easy for you to apply and look amazing.

Let's talk about Ardell magnetic lashes. They have a whole collection, and I've got four different styles here to show you. I use Ardell's regular lashes all the time in my studio for brides and clients, and I wear them myself too. The Demi Whispies are my personal favorite, and guess what? They have them in the magnetic line now!

Why Magnetic Lashes Are Great

I've seen so many people on Instagram and YouTube struggling with these. When I first tried them, I actually found them pretty easy, but I realized I was putting them on backward. Instead of the lash going from shorter to longer, like you'd normally wing out your eyeliner, I put the longer part in the front and the shorter part at the end. And for some reason, it just worked and looked great!

If the front part seems a bit too long for your eye shape, you can always trim them a little on an angle to create a softer look. The best part about magnetic lashes is no glue. If you have a latex allergy, you don't need to worry about finding special glue or getting sticky stuff in your eyes. They're just amazing and feel so light.

How Magnetic Lashes Work

These lashes come in two pieces per pair. They're designed to sandwich your natural lashes in between. So, you apply one piece on top and the other underneath, and they just snap together. It's a bit different from regular strip lashes.

To take them apart, you just gently push them with your fingers. It's not difficult, and you won't ruin the lashes.

Trying Them On Camera

Applying them on camera is a little different because I can't get my face right up to the mirror like I normally would. It does take a little practice, even with my "backwards" method. The key is to get that first anchor piece in place. I like to start where my natural lashes begin to look as natural as possible.

I find it works best to place the top lash first, with the longer part towards the front. Then, I position the bottom lash underneath. You can feel the magnets connect. Once they're close, they'll snap together. I like to apply them a little higher than my lash line because the magnets will pull them down into place. If you start too low, they might end up looking droopy.

Key Takeaways

  • The "Backwards" Method: Try applying the longer section of the lash towards the inner corner of your eye and the shorter section towards the outer corner. This might feel more natural and easier to align.
  • Placement is Key: Position the lashes slightly above your natural lash line. The magnets will help them settle into the correct spot.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: Don't get discouraged if it takes a few tries. Experiment with the placement until you find what works best for your eye shape.
  • No Glue Hassle: Enjoy the convenience of glue-free application, which is great for sensitive eyes or latex allergies.

Different Styles to Try

Let's look at the styles I have:

  • Double Whispies: These give a more glam look. They're a bit longer and don't wing out as much, but they're really popular if you want that "wow" factor.
  • Double 10s: This is the pair I wore in my videos. They aren't super dense or heavy, but remember, you have two layers, so they do create a darker lash line.
  • Double Demi: These are my go-to regular lashes, so I'm excited they have a magnetic version. I love how they wing out, and I think clients will love them too.
  • Accent Styles (001): These are shorter, denser pieces. They're great if you don't want a full lash or if you find them easier to apply. They have a 002 style as well, which I didn't find this time.

Final Thoughts

Magnetic lashes are so much fun! No glue, no stinging, no burning. It really just takes a little practice to get the hang of the application. My main trick is applying them the opposite way I initially thought. It works for me, and I think they're a great beauty option.

They're not a huge investment, so you can definitely practice at home and feel a bit more glamorous. These definitely get a thumbs up from me. I think they're amazing, and the application process is just about working with your eye shape and figuring out that you can apply them "not the right way" and still have them look great. Give them a try!
