Why I Have Only 4 Fragrances on My Vanity

articles/wIMcW1Bz-scaled.jpg

I am a total freak about the fragrances I wear. I think my strange behavior started in high school. If I smelled a perfume, and it reminded me of something that wasn’t a positive experience, I had to get away from the scent immediately. See, I told you weird.

I used to have tons of fragrances on my vanity, but I felt like it was excessive, and I wasn’t on a proper rotation with the ones that I loved. I got rid of everything except four staple fragrances that I wear continually depending on the occasion.

Before I get to my number one fragrance for the summertime, let me give you an overview of the four fragrances I have and why I love them.

First up is my Aerin Evening Rose fragrance. I fell in love with this fragrance the second I smelled the bottle. I am very partial to anything that smells like Rose, but this is not just a perfume with rose. Evening Rose is vibrant with contrast with a touch of sophistication. It has juicy Blackberry, and rich Cognac blended with a voluptuous Rose Centifolia and Bulgarian Rose Absolute. Safe to say I am Rose obsessed. Evening Rose is my day fragrance, and I receive so many compliments when I wear it. I know that might come as a surprise that I am wearing a scent that says evening during the day. I pick day time to wear this fragrance because it’s light but with just a little warmth to make it enjoyable.

Since I loved the Evening Rose so much I up-leveled to Aerin Lauder Rose De Grasse. This fragrance has a higher price point, but I wear this scent for special evenings or events. It’s timeless and feminine. At the heart of this fusion of roses is a hundred-petaled Rose Centifolia hand-picked in Grasse, the French capital of perfumery since the 16th century.

My next fragrance, I waited for years to buy. I was introduced to Armani/Prive Rose d’ Arabie by a friend and fell in love with its intoxicating scent. My reaction is just what Mr. Armani wished his clients would experience pure obsession. He created the Rose d’ Arabie with intoxicating rose. The La Collection des Mille et Une Nuits is a tribute to the legendary tale of “1,000 Nights”, inspired by the splendors of the Orient. Rose d’ Arabie showcases the Damascena Rose from Turkey. The Damascene Rose embodies confident sensuality. The scent is classic florals with notes of Rose, Saffron, Patchouli, Wood, and Amber. The Armani/Prive Collection was launched in 2004 and inspired by his Haute Couture fashion range.

Rose d’ Arabie is an exceptional fragrance for me. I love spritzing this fragrance on when I get out of the shower right before I put on my silk robe. Days later, when I reach for my gown, it has the beautiful sensual smell of the fragrance. I have to be careful because this fragrance is very concentrated. I use one to maybe two spritzes. You could overdo it with this fragrance, so less is more.

Last but not least is my most recent addition to my fragrance collection and is my summer go-to fragrance. It is complicated but fresh. I mentioned this fragrance in this blog post a couple of weeks back. I discovered The Noir 29 parfum by Le Labo when I was staying at The Edition in New York City last January for my book signing. The Edition hotel has an exclusive signature fragrance (not sold in stores) that you smell the second you walk through their sliding glass doors. I was obsessed and had to find this fragrance. I searched and searched and came across a blog post titled “How I want to smell like a hotel” or something along those lines. The woman that wrote the article experienced the same thing I did at The Edition hotel. In that blog post, she mentioned that she went to a Le Labo boutique, and they said that The Noir 29 was the closest to The Editions Signature Scent. It’s not the same scent, but it’s close enough for me.

I love the citrus, luxurious, soft, and beautiful creation. I decided this is my summer fragrance because of the light and fresh scent. What is neat about Le Labo boutiques is they make the fragrance right there fresh for you and print your name and date on the bottle’s label. I love personalized products, and it makes it that much more memorable. This fragrance is not tested on animals; it’s vegan and made in the USA.
