My love for Palm Beach started decades ago. I am a native South Floridian, but there is no place like Palm Beach Island. Quiet, serene, and the ultimate getaway. When all my northern clients start complaining about the cold, I always recommend Palm Beach, especially The Chesterfield Hotel.
There are many choices when it comes to hotels now from apps, websites, last-minute deals, but nothing beats experiencing hospitality as The Chesterfield Hotel delivers. The moment you open the doors to the unique lobby decorated with gorgeous flower arrangements, fresh baked cookies, you are greeted with a warm smile and a “Welcome, we are so glad you are here.” Our reservation specialist asked us if we would like to sip on a dry or sweet sherry while we checked in. Oh, I was so excited it transported me back to a time of sophistication and class. I oped for dry sherry, and I have to say I was quite impressed.
If you are expecting electronic keys or anything fast and not enjoyable you won’t find it here at The Chesterfield Hotel. What you will find is an environment that is about relaxing and taking it slow. I received two gold keys. Yes, that’s right heavy gold keys that felt so good in my hands. When was the last time you inserted a metal key into a lock? I thought so.
Stepping into our gorgeous junior suite with a balcony, I noticed the striped silk walls right away. Did I mention exquisite silk fabric walls, not wallpaper? A plate of fruit awaited our arrival with a note welcoming us to the hotel and a sitting area to relax now we had finally arrived. The stocked refrigerator was full of still and sparkling waters, juices, and sodas. A beautiful balcony enveloped in greenery with an adorable little table and chairs for morning coffee. I loved the windows in our room that overlooked the old Hollywood style pool area. I was hoping my stay could last for the rest of the year.
The next morning I had breakfast on my terrace, which was exceptional. It was a chilly crisp fifty-two-degree morning, the type of Florida morning you wish for all year. I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with Illy coffee and was ready to breathe in all that Palm Beach had to offer starting off with a little pool time.
After a morning by the pool, I was dying for a little lunch in the open-aired terrace with gorgeous orchids. I could smell the delightful kitchen aroma through the hallway when I was working my way back to my room to change. I couldn’t wait to sit down with a glass of wine to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. I opted for a burger and fries because hey, you only live once.
Since my little weekend getaway was to celebrate my Mother’s birthday, we got ready to hit the town after a day of shopping on Worth Avenue. It was time to enjoy a couple of celebratory cocktails and dinner. The Chesterfield Hotel is at the top of my list when I want to get away and enjoy life.
