I seemed to be on a stay-up-all-night no sleeping routine since 2018. I was laser-focused on writing my book, filming YouTube videos and creating rich content for you ladies that I am just now coming down from being on the path of no return. I always say when a photo shoot is complete that THIS will be my last shoot for a couple of months but then a month will go by and I am back styling up a new shoot. Now that we are in May, the snowbirds have fled our gorgeous beaches I am looking to wind down a little and give myself some much-needed margin.
My morning skin care products and beauty rituals are ultra important because of how hard I push myself from screen time to lack of sleep. I wanted to share with you some of the products that perk up my skin and make me feel like a human again after a long night of editing and writing.
As a beauty writer and licensed esthetician, my routine does change from time to time but some of these products below I have been using for years and I don’t think my skin could live without them.
My Must-Have Morning Routine:
If my skin is looking dull or I am prepping for a photo shoot or On-Air appearance these are the key morning skin care products I reach for.
Ice Roller: I loved this ice roller so much that I have brought it into my online store. This roller has a large steel roller head that guarantees to keep the cool temperature for a longer time than a jade stone roller. It can go in the fridge or the freezer and it immediately calms and soothes my skin. I love that it gives a shrinking effect on the appearance of my pore and de-puffs my skin, especially around my eyes.
EVER Skin Care Rebalance cleanser: I have tried multiple times to switch up this cleanser over the past three years but to no avail. This cleanser is for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin. It has willow bark that clears my pores, helps to control bacteria and the appearance of blemishes. Most cleansers that are for more combination skin I have found will dry my skin but this cleanser is packed with cucumber and aloe to soothe, hydrate and re-balance my skin leaving it soft and smooth. I owe a lot of credit to this cleanser for my skin looking so flawless on camera and in my photo shoots.
Dr. Perricone MD-Eyelid Lift Serum: I can’t tell you how excited I was when I went to Sephora and ran across this serum for the eyelids. Ever since my eye surgery last summer I have been extremely hyper about my skin on my left eyelid dropping. It’s very unusual to find a product that you can apply directly to your eyelids. Infused with essential FX Acyl-Glutathione, I see that my eyelids do get a little lift and tightening with this ultra-lightweight tightening serum. The bonus is the softening the appearance of dark circles, lines, and wrinkles around my eyes. Seeing more hydrated eyelids makes me very happy in the morning.
When my skin is needing extra moisture and detailed treatment I reach for face masks. I have been using forever the Natura Bisse Essential Shock Intense Mask with ananas and green tea. It’s ultra creamy and soaks my skin with hydration. I feel my skin has more tone and firmness after using this mask. I put this mask on before my coffee and leave it on for about 15 minutes.
Another mask I have incorporated lately is the Strivectin Multi-Action Blue Rescue Clay mask. You might have seen me applying this mask on my Instagram Stories recently. This mask is a little different than my Natura Bisse Intense Mask because it has Blue Algae, Probiotic Ferment, Red Seaweed, white clay, and shea butter. This mask is a highly concentrated dose of powerful ingredients, and I love how it goes on white and turns to blue once I massage it into my skin.
No matter what I am hypersensitive about applying sun protection in the morning but I haven’t been overly excited about my options for the face. I don’t like heavy sun protection or chemicals on my skin but being a Florida girl I know I have to apply a sunscreen every morning. I recently found at CVS La Roche-Posay Broad Spectrum Anthelois 50 Mineral Zinc Oxide Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid. It’s water resistant up to forty minutes, fragrance-free and paraben-free. I apply it on the back of my hands and all over my face, neck, chest, and ears. It’s so light and doesn’t leave a white film on my face.
A new product that I didn’t think I would like because it had the word “priming” in it is from EVER Skin Care. It’s called Canvas and has become a staple in my morning skincare routine. I don’t necessarily have to apply the La Roche-Posey SPF 50 when I am using this product because it has a broad spectrum SPF 30. I am not a fan of primers so I had little faith I would like this product on my skin or layering my foundation over this product. I was so surprised that it dries down quickly and acts as the perfect canvas for my makeup application. Ingredients like watermelon, turmeric, and pre-probiotics make this a mainstay in my morning skin care products routine.
