Why I Keep Doing This

articles/IMG_3336.jpg
We all know this year the fabulous year of 2020 has been a doozy. I look back at November/December of last year when I was planning and strategizing, saying 2020 was going to be the year of Perfect Vision, New Decade of you fill in the blank. As we know, we were starting our “perfect” year, and then March happened. As an artist and creator, I kept my mind sane by pivoting my services to Zoom and connecting with all of you. I offered free 15-minute Beauty Consultations and saw over 150 women from all over the world! I then had an emotional breakdown in this video telling you why. What you see is what you get with me always has been this way, so no editing out the real emotions to be the “perfect” Youtube video.
Need a little beauty escape?
I found that creating makeup looks that took me somewhere else anywhere else, but where I am at the moment, especially when Florida was in lockdown helped a lot. I got lost in the creative process, the therapeutic steps of a makeup application. Today, I launched another video about a mental escape. If you feel overwhelmed this past week with what has been going on in our world, you’re not alone; let your mind be entertained by something simple, easy, which requires no thinking. In one of my last videos, I mentioned a couple of books that I recently purchased that keep my mind moving forward and not stuck. The first book is called “Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts” by Jennie Allen. I am very much enjoying reading this book.
The second one I just bought last night is called “90 Days To Create an Extraordinary Life with the Power of Intention.” by Lisa Adeline. The main principle is that you attract what you think about. It’s a journal that gives you daily exercises, which take 20 to 30 minutes a day for 90 days. I am always reading and working towards advancing my knowledge in mental health. I always have my blue light reading light clipped on my book, so I am not stressing my eyes when I read in bed.
I am into daily and nightly rituals to calm my spirit from my favorite body oil that makes you feel like you just touched down in Tahiti (it’s on sale now) to CBD bath soaks. I then will get into something cozy; these are my absolute favorite!
Since we are on the topic, here are a couple of other books that I found very informative and helpful. If you are looking for books on beauty, The French Beauty Solution by Mathilde Thomas is wonderful. Mathilde is the owner and founder of one of my favorite skincare lines, Caudalie. You have seen me use and mention her line a million times in my YouTube videos. I also just finished reading this past week Ageless Beauty the French Way by Clemence von Mueffling. What is so interesting about this book is her mother and grandmother were both beauty editors for French Vogue. I have bought a couple of skincare products recommended by her grandmother and have not been disappointed.
A couple of books on my wish list are The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman. The Clarity Cleanse by Habib Sadeghi, DO, and Suzanne Somers latest book A New Way to Age: The Most Cutting-Edge Advances in Antiaging.
I could go on and on about reading and being inspired through books. I love learning new techniques, reading about French skincare, and escaping into the wide world of information. I hope my video today gives you a little peace, and my book recommendations give you something to look forward to in the mail. I put together a little lookbook below of some of my favorite products.
