I have had a lot of time to think, slow down, and get in touch with what I want moving forward. You know I am not big on the saying “New Normal.” It makes me a little uncomfortable that we need to label shifting, growing, changing. To me, it’s not about a new normal but a better normal. We can go around and around about the word “normal” to some there is no such meaning to others well, they hang a lot of weight on what “normal” really means. Is there such a word as “normal” I think it’s pretty subjective, so let’s move on to something new.
At the beginning of my gray hair journey back in 2015, I felt I had no other choice if I was going to move through the transition quickly to cut my hair into a chic bob and keep cutting every four weeks. I have kept the bob for almost five years. I have loved it; the bob hairstyle is effortless to manage, but I am a bit tired of the same cut, style, look. I am ready to break out of quarantine with a fresh new attitude and outlook, and that goes for my hair also. I thought long and hard on leaving my “signature” style. The stylist I used to go to said that women would come in and ask for “The Nikol” such an honor to have so many women want to transition into a chic bob. It’s time for me to move on to my next look and round out my five years with the gray-haired bob and showcase a completely new style.
I am sure you are anxious to hear what style I have decided on, but that will be more clear in the months to come. As for now, I am enjoying the freedom of letting my hair run free, do its thing, be rebellious. Just like this time and space we are in there is nothing to control only to enjoy, ride the wave of chaos and give thanks and gratitude to the day that God has given to us. As we all know, we only have today, so let’s stop looking back or into the future and love every minute of today.
