Sitting Poolside with Très Chic Rosé

I am a huge fan of Rosé wine, Palm Beach and an old Hollywood bungalow-style hotel.

One might ask if I see life through rose-colored glasses, and I would have to say “Yes” if I am sipping on a delish crispy chilled glass of Tres Chic Rosé.

I feel Rosé is a misunderstood wine. People see the color pink in the bottle and pass it off as not a serious wine or think it is probably obnoxiously sweet. Rosé is not new; this great wine dates back to the six century BC. The Phocaeans brought grapevines from Greece (love my Greek heritage even more now) to Massalia which is now referred to as Marseille in Southern France. They were producing field blends of both white and red grapes. These pink wines soon made a splash around the Mediterranean. You can thank Côte d”Azur in Southern France for making Rosé a symbol of glamour, leisure, and chic hot summers.

Back in America, Rosé was pretty much off the grid, and no one cared or ordered a glass until Sutter Home released its White Zinfandel in 1972. Pink wine finally found a place at the table. Gaining strength in popularity from the 1980s Rosé was on the up and up, and in August of 2014, panic set in when the Hamptons ran out of Rosé. The event that took place in the Hamptons proved that Americans not only loved Rosé but couldn’t get enough of it. Social media also has been influential in Rosé’s popularity over the last decade. Celebrities like Angelia and Brad to Drew Berrymore are tickled pink with winemaking.

I am always buying and testing new brands of Rosé, and it was only natural that I try Très Chic Rosé, the sister company to one of my favorite champagnes Le Grande Courtage. Très Chic Rosé is 70% Grenache and 30% Cinsault. They use a direct press method to make the wine, and each varietal is cold-fermented separately in stainless steel tanks, then aged three months on fine lees. It’s a delicate Rosé with exuberant flavors of red berries, citrus, tropical fruit, and a hint of herbs and rose petal. Très Chic Rosé is no stranger to accolades receiving 91 points from The Tasting Panel Magazine for their 2018 Vintage to 94 points and Best in Show from the International Wine and Spirits competition for their 2017 Vintage.
