Answering a question that comes up a lot on my social media in this blog post. Women from all over the world write to me asking how can they keep their hair from turning yellow. They want the whitest white or the sparkly silver locks. Is it heat tools that are turning the hair yellow? Is it the sun? I can only speak from my experience, I find that the sun brightens my hair. There are so many articles saying that the sun turns gray hair yellow but for me, it lightens my hair makes it shine like a diamond. You know that I wouldn’t give you the typical answer and the whole gray hair and turning yellow is definitely a debate.
Even though my hair seems to get super white in the sun that doesn’t mean I don’t protect my hair when I am out enjoying a little Vitamin D. If I am going to spend a morning reading by the pool or having lunch at the beach (1-2 hours) I will wear a large hat to protect my hair. If I am going to be enjoying a day at the pool or beach I love putting this Protective Sun Oil in my hair. This hair oil is a New York Fashion Week favorite and gives a sophisticated slicked-back ponytail look and it’s water-resistant to safeguard my hair from the sun, chlorine, and saltwater exposure. Another favorite of mine is this Hair Oil Mist which comes with convenient travel size. I just shake the bottle and mist onto my damp or dry hair concentrating on the ends and then I will air dry my hair. I love that this spray can be used both to texturize my hair when damp or to create a natural beach wave throughout the day now that my hair is quarantine-long.
After a much needed day at the beach caring for my hair post fun in the sun is super important. I start by infusing moisture back right away with this nourishing after-sun shampoo It removes the residues of chlorine, salt, and sand from my hair and delivers optimal nourishment and shine to my hair not to mention I love how it smells.
To get my summer makeup look, I paired my Effortless eye shadow palette with Pink Lady long-wearing lip gloss and Cameo creamy Kohl lip liner. I love how the Face Glo in Pool Side gives me just enough bronze but not overdoing it. I am launching a new BB Cream in July that I am wearing today. This is not your average BB Cream, but the perfect pair of skincare meets makeup offered in five shades from fair to dark. I made sure it was a super lightweight moisturizer with light to medium coverage. It’s free of parabens and fragrance and for all skin types. What I love is that I included Cucumber, Chamomile, and Ginseng extracts to help soothe and soften the skin, not to mention it hydrates the skin beautifully. Also included is Aloe Vera extracts to help improve the skin’s texture and diminish the appearance of fine lines. Enriched with Niacinamide to help decrease the feeling of dry skin. It also contains three sunscreen agents to provide superior skin protection. I am so excited about this launch, so make sure you sign up on my newsletter for the latest summer makeup collections.
No matter how long you stay out this summer you should never go without doing a hair mask at least once a week. I reach for this Apres Soleil Hair Mask because of it’s revitalizing after-sun nourishment to my strands. Key ingredients of coconut water, Vitamin E, and UV Filters create smooth, shiny hair that feels silky.
The next time you are off to the tropics or just stepping out with a delicious cocktail in your backyard, remember the key to gorgeous hair is figuring out what is going to work for your hair type and texture. There is no “one size fit’s all” when it comes to hair products. I have to say the products that I mentioned in this blog post are brands I have used for decades and absolutely love.
